Szymon Styrczula-Maśniak (Poland)
Where are you from and where do you live now?
I’m from Kościelisko. It’s a village at the foot of the Tatra Mountains and that's basically where I live.
Your favorite mountains?
I have a few places that I like to come back to. BC in Canada is definitely one of those places and I highly recommended it for the quality of powder skiing. For the more adventurous and ski mountaineering oriented missions I really enjoy The Andes.
Your home ski area?
My favorite place to ski is my home spot, the Tatra Mountains. They are small but rugged mountains with a true alpine character where you can find steep couloirs and open faces. Access is very good and as long as winter is snowy, we can easily ski until April.
What was your first experience with skis?
I grew up skiing in my backyard on wooden skis with strap bindings. I never had any racing background but when I was a kid my grandfather would take me up with him into the mountains. He was a ranger with the national park service so naturally, we used to spend a lot of time up there. Growing up with those experiences and watching ski movies made me a skier that I am now.
What are your favorite sports/hobby/activities?
I like mountain based activities like climbing and mountain biking. I love traveling and exploring new places. On easy offseason days, I enjoy welding steel elements and woodworking.
Why Majesty?
I feel like Majesty is a true brand with a soul and heart. I like the striving to make the skis functional pieces of art.
How long have you been with Majesty?
I've been with Majesty since the very beginning, almost 12 years now.
Any cool accomplishments with Majesty so far?
I'm not a competitive type of guy. These skis definitely made me a better skier for when I am in my element of exploration.
What are your future plans with Majesty?
There is a number of projects on my mind where I need a set of trusted tools and support. I just wanna use these skis for the purpose that they were created for, as long as I can 😎
